A leading authority on Coetzee, Attwell is author of "J.M. Coetzee: South Africa and the Politics of Writing" and co-editor with Coetzee of "Doubling the Point: Essays and Interviews."
The Nobel Prize for Literature was recently awarded to Coetzee, a South African novelist. Numerous UTSA graduate literature courses include works of Coetzee.
According to Steven Kellman, UTSA professor of comparative literature, "I guarantee that if you can make Professor Attwell's talk and the discussion afterward, you will be regaled with lively insights into Coetzee, South African literature, the struggle against apartheid, post-apartheid challenges to literature and universities, perhaps even David's membership in the ANC and his study of Zulu."
