Oct. 15, 16 memorial services set for UTSA technician

(Oct. 14, 2003)--D. Gabriel Hernandez, an audio visual technician since 1999 in UTSA's academic technology office, died last weekend.

Hernandez handled audio visual service requests for the Humanities and Social Sciences Building, the John Peace Library Building and the Convocation Center at the UTSA 1604 Campus.

It was always apparent to co-workers and those he assisted that he enjoyed his job. He was known for his friendliness and helpfulness in providing faculty with technical support and setting up equipment.

Hernandez received numerous compliments from faculty and staff and was honored April 15, 2003 with a Team Sprit Award for Technical Support.

"It is with great sorrow that we announce the death of our co-worker and friend, Gabriel Hernandez," said Lorie Bennett, administrative services officer for distance learning and academic technology. "We will miss Gabriel's happy-go-lucky personality and high level of dedication to UTSA."

Hernandez' family asks that cards be sent to his sister, Patricia Guzman, at 1511 West Houston, San Antonio, Texas 78207.
