According to Rosalie Ambrosino, UTSA vice president for student affairs, adding the freshmen and sophomores to Who's Who at UTSA will help the university identify its student leaders earlier.
All 149 students earning the honor will receive a special Who's Who at UTSA certificate, while only junior, senior and graduate students will receive the national award.
The Who's Who national program began in 1934 as a way to recognize and honor students who demonstrated outstanding achievement during their collegiate careers. Today, more than 2,300 colleges and universities participate in the annual selection process.
The selection committee will consider scholarship, leadership, participation in extracurricular and academic activities, and service to the university and local community in selecting honorees.
Undergraduate students must be enrolled in a minimum of nine hours, while graduate students must be enrolled in a minimum of six hours to be considered.
Nominations are due by Friday, Oct. 24, to Anne Englert, Office of Student Leadership and Cultural Programs, 1604 Campus or by e-mail.
