Holiday Magic Market benefits athletics scholarships

(Nov. 4, 2003)--The UTSA Office of the President hosted the Holiday Magic Market Monday in the president's suite. The annual event raises scholarship money for UTSA women's athletics through sales of holiday arts and crafts and silent auction items. This year's market raised $1,830 toward scholarships.

The 16th annual State Farm Insurance 5K Run/Fun Walk (known as the Women's Walk) is another popular fund-raiser supporting UTSA women's athletics. The walk is at 8 a.m. Nov. 15 at UTSA Convocation Center on the 1604 Campus.

Funds raised during the walk help fund scholarships totaling $475,000 which provide an opportunity for nearly one hundred young women to attend college and compete in sports.

One hundred percent of the funds raised during the walk are used by UTSA to support women's scholarships in volleyball, basketball, softball, track and field, cross country and tennis.
