"The intent of HACU and Gateway is to help bridge the digital divide," said Moder. "UTSA can use this money to expand technology, improve infrastructure, establish scholarships or other needs to extend the benefits of technology to all of the students."
"Students I have talked with are excited about innovative ways to integrate technology into our university environment," said Romo. "This gift from HACU and Gateway will help bring greater inclusion of all learners, and help create a closer-knit community within our campuses and beyond."
As a HACU-affiliated institution, UTSA receives a rebate of up to 5 percent on Gateway computers and other products purchased by the university and UTSA faculty, staff, alumni and students.
UTSA will receive special discounts of up to 9 percent on select Gateway PCs, notebooks and servers. Faculty, staff, students and alumni can take advantage of this benefit as well, giving them a personal incentive to purchase Gateway products and add to UTSA's overall rebate.
Additionally, Gateway offers discounts on a wide range of PC and network installation and support services, providing a single point of contact for the complete technology solutions needed to promote the success of students.
