'Prickly Sweet' Satellite Space exhibit explores shape, texture
(Nov. 14, 2003)--The UTSA Satellite Space presents "Prickly Sweet: Artwork by Felice Koenig and Georgia Tambasis" through Nov. 23 at 115 Blue Star in the Blue Star Contemporary Art Center, South Alamo and Probandt Streets.
Gallery hours are noon-6 p.m., Friday-Sunday, or by appointment.

Combining abstract painting and sculpture in a variety of shapes and textures, the works are the M.F.A. thesis shows for the nationally exhibited UTSA students.

Koenig's painting technique reflects a desire to make beautiful, inspirational objects. Each piece consists of intricate layers of acrylic paint built up to create tactile seductive surfaces infused with color.
The works in clay by Tambasis explore the concepts of stacking and layering. Forms in her works range from smooth, richly colored surfaces to rough textures.
The UTSA Satellite Space receives major support from the UTSA College of Liberal and Fine Arts, the Department of Art and Art History, and Bruce and Janet Lennie Flohr.
