"This movement of athletics to student affairs reflects my desire to coordinate the concerns of our athletes with those of other students on campus," Romo said.
Also, the Office of Information Technology will move from business affairs to the Office of the Provost, reflecting the fact that campus technology is now driven by research and instruction needs.
Additionally, Romo has appointed a Technology Oversight Committee to establish technology priorities for the campus and to advise the provost on campus needs.
The committee is engaging a wide range of students, faculty and staff to help define these needs. Committee members are Rosalie Ambrosino, vice president for student affairs; Sonia V. Martinez, vice president for university advancement; Zorica Pantic-Tanner, dean, College of Engineering; Deborah L. Armstrong, interim dean, College of Sciences; David R. Johnson, executive vice provost; Jesse T. Zapata, vice provost, UTSA Downtown and dean, College of Public Policy; Michael F. Kelly, dean, UTSA Libraries; and Richard Lewis Jr., presidential fellow, ex-officio member.
