Roadrunner debaters finish semester well in Oklahoma
(Nov. 14, 2003)--UTSA debaters Erin White, sophomore, and Dan Conway, senior, have placed in the top four in every tournament in which they competed this semester. The University of Central Oklahoma in Edmond did not alter their winning ways.
White and Conway finished third in the novice division, losing a close elimination
round to a University of Oklahoma team. White won the second speaker award
and her partner, Conway, placed eighth.

A second UTSA team composed of senior Marquis Williams and freshman
Meghan Martinez placed fourth in the tournament, losing to the same
Oklahoma team that eventually defeated White and Conway. This tournament was
Marquis Williams' last. He graduates in December, and he will head out for
Washington, D.C., to serve as an intern for Senator Hillary Clinton.
The debaters will take the next few weeks off to catch up with studies, prepare for finals and do some research for second semester tournaments. In January the team will begin its spring travel schedule at back-to-back tournaments at North Texas State and UT-Dallas (Jan. 5-9).
