Frost lecture series presents business leader Nov. 7
(Nov. 5, 2003)--Charles L. Korbell Jr., president and CEO of Clarke American Checks, Inc., will present the keynote address during the Frost Bank Distinguished Lecture Series at 11 a.m. Friday, Nov. 7 in the UTSA Business Building Auditorium (2.01.02). The event is sponsored by the College of Business and is free and open to the public.
Clarke American was a recipient of the 2001 Malcolm Baldrige National Quality Award in the manufacturing category and was honored by the Quality Texas Foundation as the sole recipient of the 2001 Texas Award for Performance Excellence. The Malcolm Baldrige Award, the highest level of recognition for quality that a company can receive, recognizes U.S. organizations for achievements in quality performance and business excellence.

Clarke American is a customer management solutions company that provides checks and check-related services, contact center services and direct response marketing services to a growing portfolio of more than 4,000 financial institution partners. Headquartered in San Antonio, the company employs approximately 3,300 people at 25 sites in 15 states.
Korbell is a board member of the Check Payment Systems Association and the Quality Texas Foundation. He also currently serves on the United Way of San Antonio and Bexar County boards of trustees and is a past member of the board of directors of Junior Achievement of South Texas, Inc.
He holds a bachelor's of business administration degree from Texas A&M University and is a graduate of the Executive Program from Darden Graduate School of Business at the University of Virginia.
The Frost Bank Distinguished Lecture Series brings prominent business and community leaders to UTSA to share their knowledge and experiences with students and others in the university and business community. The lecture series, which began in 1988, presents an opportunity to broaden the understanding of the business world and the individuals who lead it.
