Bicultural-bilingual studies director honored for service

(Nov. 3, 2003)--Robert Milk, UTSA director of the Division of Bicultural-Bilingual Studies, was honored for exemplary professional service at the Texas Association for Bilingual Education (TABE) conference last week in Fort Worth.

Milk earned an M.A. in linguistics and a Ph.D. in curriculum and teacher education at Stanford University.

His research interests are bilingual teacher preparation and classroom-centered research in bilingual settings.

Milk was awarded a Title VII doctoral fellowship at Stanford University from 1976 to 1979. He received a Fulbright grant as a senior lecturer in Peru in 1982 and directed six Title VII projects funded through the U.S. Department of Education for preparation of bilingual education personnel.

He served as president of the San Antonio Area Association for Bilingual Education and currently serves on the Texas Association for Bilingual Education Executive Board.
