UTSA community encouraged to participate in SECC

(Nov. 13, 2003)--UTSA's 2003 State Employee Charitable Campaign (SECC) is underway and all faculty and staff are encouraged to contribute to help reach the $120,000 goal.

The deadline to arrange contributions has been extended to Friday, Nov. 21.

As of Nov. 13, the campaign raised approximately $68,630 which is 57 percent of the goal.

For the ninth consecutive year, UTSA has teamed with the Bexar County United Way Association to help raise money to help 98 agencies that provide crucial social services and community programs for area residents.

Participants can make a donation through the online electronic pledge management system at United eWay. Payroll deductions can be arranged at the site.

Staff can also use paper pledge forms to make pledges for payroll deduction or for contributions by cash or check. Paper pledge forms should be submitted in a sealed envelope by Nov. 7 to your departmental representative or at John Peace Library Building Room 1.01.12.

To pledge at the United eWay Web site:

  1. Enter Campaign Code: utsa2003
  2. Enter User ID: First initial, middle initial and last name
  3. Enter Password: First initial, last initial and last four digits of Social Security Number
  4. When the Welcome Web site is accessed, the system will direct the donor through the pledge process.
  5. Click the continue button and all SECC charitable agencies will be displayed.
  6. Choose how your contribution will be distributed among the various agencies.

NOTE: If the system does not accept your information, try again. If still unsuccessful, use the letter "x" in place of your middle initial. The system uses the letter "x" when employee records do not list a middle initial. If problems continue, e-mail George Norton.
