UTSA community helps the needy this holiday season
(Dec. 1, 2003)--With the holiday season upon us, several campus organizations are lending a helping hand to make a better Christmas for less fortunate San Antonio children.
If your department or organization is collecting gifts or donations for charitable and other organizations, please e-mail UTSA Today and your donation drive will be added to the list below.
Alpha Chi Honor Society members are collecting through Dec. 16 new stuffed animals and used ones that are clean and in good condition. It's the sixth year for the collection efforts and more than 500 have been dropped off at the collection site at University Center Room 1.02.08.

Alpha Chi is donating this year's stuffed animals to local fire and police departments to give to children they encounter on the job. Some will also go to children at local hospitals.
"It's nice to help children less fortunate and it's a way for UTSA to give back to the community to be a force for positive change in the San Antonio area," said Chris Denham, president, Alpha Chi Honor Society. "We could not do this without the continuing support of the UTSA faculty and staff." For more information, contact the Alpha Chi National Honor Society at 210-458-4155.
