Deadline passes for spring admission applications
(Dec. 3, 2003)--The UTSA admissions office is no longer accepting Spring 2004 admissions applications.
Dec. 1 was the deadline for spring semester applications from new and previous students. Those who have already submitted applications have until the end of December to send in supporting documentation such as transcripts and test scores.

The strict deadline represents an active effort from the university to ensure both course availability and quality service to students at the rapidly growing institution. Spring semester classes begin Jan. 12.
"Because the application deadline is a relatively new thing, many faculty and staff seem to forget about it," said George Norton, UTSA assistant vice president for admissions. "Once the deadline passes, we still have people out there on campus referring people to admissions to apply for the term, and the students are upset when we do not accept the application."
In the past, UTSA was somewhat lenient on admissions deadlines, but the recent large enrollment increases eliminated the ability to be flexible. Norton said the deadline has had a very positive impact for UTSA and will continue to be enforced each semester.
