The students are part of small teams of three or four, with each team making an oral presentation to classmates and instructors. Some presentations include multimedia effects or miniature models designed by the students. Each team member explains a portion of the project.
Following the presentations, the students answer questions ranging from the methodologies used in their projects to conclusions derived from their research.
Mechanical engineering projects included improving a quick disconnect for the cooling system on the International Space Station and building a "Battlebot," a miniature robot that competes in combat with similar robot systems.
