Institute of Texan Cultures opens Online Museum Store

(Dec. 16, 2003)--UTSA's Institute of Texan Cultures (ITC) Online Museum Store is up and running.

Visitors to the Web site can order items such as tickets to ITC events, books, instructional kits and curricula, pamphlets, videos with teaching guides and Texas Folklife Festival posters.

Additionally, online shoppers can order historical photos from the ITC catalog and purchase memberships to ITC.

"The new ITC online store is secure and instantaneous," said Bob Brodeur, ITC director of business operations. "We hope visitors to the site will take advantage of these services."

Upcoming ITC events include "Las Nuevas Tamaleras," a play about young Latinas learning the art of making tamales from the ghosts of their foremothers. The play will be performed at 2:30 p.m., Saturday, Dec. 20 at the ITC with admission of $12.95. Tickets can be ordered through the online store.

The ITC, one of the three campuses of The University of Texas at San Antonio, is a museum dedicated to enhancing the understanding of cultural history, science, and technology and their influence upon the people of Texas.

Through exhibits, programs and publications that encourage acceptance and appreciation of our differences as well as our common humanity, the institute provides a forum for diversity and the dynamics between cultural history and scientific discovery.
