System change requires classroom computer log-on

(Jan. 8, 2004)--Effective immediately, all UTSA classroom computers are on the Windows 2000 operating system. This change requires faculty members to log on to classroom podium computers before class and log off after class.

In order to log in to the computers, all faculty members must have a UTSA network account.

Download the campus network account request form at the Office of Information Technology Web site or contact the Help Desk at 210-458-5538.

The benefits of a faculty log-on and log-off include:
  • Access to personal folders on the network (I:) drive
  • Improves security for the UTSA computer network
  • Eliminates Internet pop-up advertising and classroom disruption
  • Reduces the potential for viruses

Installation of personal software on classroom computers is permitted with the aid of a computer technician. Additionally, visiting instructors and off-campus users can obtain temporary computer access. For assistance with these issues, contact the Center for Distance Learning and Academic Technology at 210-458-5329.

For more information regarding classroom computers, contact the Center for Distance Learning and Academic Technology at 210-458-4329 or 210-458-4520.
