UTSA wins men's, women's homecoming games
(Feb. 9, 2004)--With 2,311 Roadrunner fans in attendance, the UTSA men's basketball team followed an overtime win by the women with a 93-81 victory over the McNeese State Cowboys for Homecoming Saturday at the Convocation Center.
Earlier in the day, Lindsey Greer nailed a clutch free throw with three seconds on the clock to tie the contest at 52, forcing an overtime period. McNeese State scored first in the extra frame, but Nikki Hendrix picked up another of her 23 total points on the day to push the Roadrunners in front for good. Greer sealed the lead with a layup at the 2:06 mark, giving the Roadrunners a 57-54 lead.

The Cowgirls cut the UTSA lead to one, but Greer answered once again, swishing a 3-pointer to once again widen the gap. Kim Reed and Hendrix iced the win in the final tics with a pair of made free throws from each for a 64-56 final score.
Following the overtime drama of the women's contest, the men's team cruised past the Cowboys for their fourth win out of the last five contests, matching their win total from a year ago with their 10th victory.
UTSA had five players in double figures on the night with Justin Harbert picking up a team-high 21 points. LeRoy Hurd and Rapheal Posey added 17 points each with John Millsap chipping in 11 and Anthony Fuqua totaling 10.
After trailing early, UTSA broke the game open in the first half with a 17-2 run and led 33-19 on a free throw by Kurt Attaway with 8:18 to play in the half.
McNeese State climbed back into the game with a 33-13 run to start the second half, but could get no closer than 12 points just before the final buzzer.
The Roadrunners return to the court Feb. 12 when they host Louisiana-Monroe at 8 p.m. in the Convocation Center. Former UTSA standout and current San Antonio Spurs guard Devin Brown will have his jersey retired before the game with the first 1,000 fans receiving a free commemorative poster.
