UTSA health services hosts March 2 information fair

(Feb. 27, 2004)--UTSA Student Health Services presents "Spring Health Fling 2004" from 11 a.m. to 2 p.m., Tuesday, March 2 at the Downtown Campus Frio Street Building Commons. The health information fair is free and open to UTSA students, faculty and staff.

More than 40 area organizations will provide health-related literature and other giveaways including information on diabetes, HIV and other STDs, fitness, nutrition, smoking cessation, skin care, breast cancer, oral hygiene, fitness planning and health information for pets.

The free fair will include foot and ankle screenings, body fat measurement and massages from MTM Body Works. In exchange for a blood donation to the South Texas Blood and Tissue Center, participants will receive a free cholesterol screening.

Participating UTSA organizations include Campus Recreation, Counseling Services, Student Health Services, FACES and UTSA Police Department.

Area agencies participating in the fair include American Cancer Society, American Heart Association, Baptist Health System, American Red Cross, Bexar County Walk San Antonio, Costco Wholesale, San Antonio Council on Alcohol & Drug Abuse, Susan G. Komen Breast Cancer Foundation, American Diabetes Association, Family Violence Prevention Services, Metro Health WIC Program, National Multiple Sclerosis Society, MTM Body Works, Ozarka Spring Water, Planned Parenthood, Texas Department of Health - Tobacco Prevention, Texas Diabetes Institute, San Antonio AIDS Foundation, Rape Crisis Center, Racquetball and Fitness Clubs, South Texas Blood and Tissue Center, Sun Research Institute, University of Texas Disease Management Center and YMCA of Greater San Antonio.
