Ross Langham wins SGA run-off election

(Feb. 13, 2004)--UTSA student Ross Langham captured 52 percent of the vote in a special election and is the new president of the Student Government Association (SGA). Langham will serve until the term ends April 22.

Langham received 583 votes to the 535 votes received by Derek Knolton, with a total of 1,118 votes cast.

The run-off was conducted Feb. 11-12 because neither candidate received a high enough percentage of votes to win in the general election. The election was held to replace former SGA President Roger Garza who resigned his post earlier this year. Voting was online via the ASAP student information system.

Applications for the 2004-2005 SGA election will be available March 8 in the Office of Student Leadership and Cultural Programs (SLCP) in University Center Room 1.02.08 at the 1604 Campus. The filing deadline is noon, Friday, March 26.

Elections will begin Monday, April 12 and end Thursday, April 15. New SGA officers will assume office April 22 for 2004-2005.
