UTSA community invited to March 12 blue-and-orange, pre-game party
(March 11, 2004)--The UTSA community welcomed the Roadrunners men's basketball team Thursday afternoon at a rally outside the Convocation Center on the 1604 Campus.
Coach Tim Carter and several players spoke to an enthusiastic crowd. The return comes after Wednesday's dramatic 87-85 win at Southeastern Louisiana. UTSA is one win away from securing the Southland Conference's automatic bid to the 2004 NCAA Tournament.

The UTSA community is invited to show its Roadrunner spirit at a Blue-and-Orange Tailgate Party at 2 p.m., Friday, March 12 at the John Peace Library Building food court on the 1604 Campus. Previously planned for Sombrilla Plaza, the event was moved inside due to rain. Sponsored by the Office of Financial Aid and the Office of Student Affairs, the event will feature free hot dogs, chips and soda. Everyone is urged to wear their blue and orange colors Friday.
The Roadrunners host Stephen F. Austin at 3:30 p.m. Friday in the Convocation
Center in a game to be televised nationally on ESPN2. Reserved seats are $10
and general admission seats are $7. UTSA student tickets are free with UTSACard.
"The nationally televised basketball game today at the Convocation Center
represents a unique opportunity to showcase UTSA," said UTSA Provost
and Executive Vice President Guy Bailey. "If employees would like
to attend the game, we can consider their attendance as service to the institution,
at their manager's discretion. However, all offices must remain open for business."
Tickets for Friday's Southland Conference championship game go on sale at
10 a.m. Friday at the Convocation Center box office.
