
UTSA debaters in Milwaukee
UTSA debaters place second in Milwaukee
(March 15, 2004)--UTSA freshmen debate partners Meghan Martinez and Mark Este recently placed second in the novice division at a Marquette University competition.
Martinez and Este defeated the Western Illinois and Northern Illinois teams, posting a 5-1 preliminary record. Este also won the second speaker award, and Martinez placed third.

The University of Wisconsin - Oshkosh won the final round, picking up the support of two of the three judges. UW-Oshkosh is coached by UTSA alumnus Doug Roubidoux, a UTSA All- American in 1996.
Leeah Odom and Jonny Flores experienced a hard ride in their first-ever college tournament, but came away energized and ready for more debate.
Erin White and Philip Di Piazza debated in their first open-division tournament (championship level). White won the fourth speaker award in the open division.
The UTSA debaters finish their season this week during Spring Break in Kansas City at the Mid-America Championships.
