ILPA has partnered with the University of Texas School of Law in the design and implementation of the SLSPA, assisting students in gaining admission to and excelling in high-quality law schools throughout Texas and the United States.
"The type of intellectual rigor that we provide gives our students a taste for top competition and provides lessons for learning and achieving with the brightest from around the country," said Richard Gambitta, ILPA director. "This coming year promises to be our best ever."
SLSPA provides seminars and lectures to strengthen analytical, critical-reading and writing skills of academy students, while assisting them in their preparation for the LSAT and law school admission process.
The institute will award approximately 50 stipends to assist students in the program. Students gain academic credit for the coursework, and those completing 12 credit hours in the academy receive the Certificate in Legal Reasoning.
"I can say with absolute certainty that without UTSA's pre-law academy, I would not be attending law school, said M.A. Golando, SLSPA graduate and first-year student at UT School of Law. "The classes focused our minds and gave opportunities to those who would not have had it otherwise."
