Technical issues delay PrintSmart UTSA project
(March 17, 2004)--The UTSA Office of Information Technology (OIT) has announced the postponement of the start date for the PrintSmart UTSA project.
Although the project is still underway, delays in settling contractual and technical problems has forced OIT to delay full implementation. Because of the delay, students will not be charged for printing this semester.

According to Jeffrey W. Noyes, CIO and associate vice president for information technology, "With the end of the semester and final exams rapidly approaching, it would be unfair to implement the program while students are trying to finish papers and other last-minute projects."
When it is fully implemented, PrintSmart UTSA will charge students for printing if they exceed the 200-page allocation of free pages. PrintSmart UTSA will control printing functions in each of the student computing labs and the UTSA Library.
