UTSA commencement ceremonies set for May 7-8

(April 9, 2004)--The University of Texas at San Antonio May 2004 commencement weekend is scheduled for Friday, May 7, and Saturday, May 8. The four commencement ceremonies will be in the Convocation Center at the 1604 Campus. See the schedule below.

Speakers at the commencement ceremonies are:

  • Chief Justice Alma L. Lopez, Texas 4th Court of Appeals (College of Business ceremony, 5 p.m., Friday, May 7)
  • State Senator Judith Zaffirini (College of Engineering, College of Sciences ceremony, 9 a.m., Saturday, May 8)
  • Albert Estrada, Sterling Bank vice president and UTSA Alumni Association president (School of Architecture, College of Liberal and Fine Arts ceremony, 1 p.m., Saturday, May 8)
  • Judge Edward C. Prado (College of Education and Human Development, College of Public Policy ceremony, 5 p.m., Saturday, May 8)

A reception follows each ceremony at the Convocation Center east lawn.

UTSA degree candidates who have applied for May 2004 graduation and August 2004 degree candidates who choose to participate in the May ceremony will be mailed commencement participation information from the Office of the Registrar.

Each degree candidate may claim up to 10 guest tickets. Extra tickets will be distributed by lottery May 5.

Commencement parking will available at the Loop 1604 and UTSA Boulevard entrances to the 1604 Campus.

The May 2004 commencement ceremonies will be broadcast live on Time Warner Cable channel 19. Broadcast times are
5-7 p.m., Friday, May 7 and 8:30 a.m.-7 p.m., Saturday, May 8.
