Fiesta Under the Stars returns to outdoor venue
(April 20, 2004)--The UTSA Department of Music presents the annual performance of Fiesta Under the Stars at 6:30 p.m., Friday, April 23 at Sombrilla Plaza on the 1604 Campus, marking the event's return to an outdoor venue after several years indoors.
An official event of Fiesta San Antonio, the popular evening of fine food and music highlights the performing expertise of UTSA music students and faculty, and raises money for music scholarships and programs.
With the theme "All That Jazz," dinner and a silent auction begin at 6:30 p.m., accompanied by pre-concert music, and the production begins at 7:30 p.m.

The evening of instrumental and voice performances opens with the UTSA Flute Choir, Percussion Ensemble, Steel Band and Mariachi Ensemble, followed by the Wind Ensemble, Concert Choir, Orchestra, Women's Choir and Jazz Choir under the direction of Robert Rustowicz, John Silantien, Eugene Dowdy and Gary Mabry.
Faculty soloist performances will include soprano Linda Poetschke, clarinetist and arranger James Balentine, pianists Elizabeth Gutierrez and Kasandra Keeling, and guest trumpeter Al Sturchio.
Reserved table seating is $25.50 per person including a box lunch and wine for tables of six. Table seating must be purchased in advance. General seating is $8 per person with lawn seating, and participants are invited to bring a picnic dinner. Admission for groups of 10 or more in general seating is $5 per person; children under age 5 are admitted free.
