
23rd Congressional District art contest winners announced
(May 3, 2004)--Student Gilbert Bernstein's painting "Panic" won first place in the 23rd Annual Congressional Art Competition and National Exhibition held recently in the UTSA Regents' Room on the 1604 Campus.
Students in the 23rd Congressional District participated in the event hosted by U.S. Congressman Henry Bonilla and sponsored by United Parcel Service (UPS) and Southwest Airlines.

Bernstein received a $3,000 scholarship to the Savannah College of Art and Design and three round-trip tickets to an Artistic Discovery event in Washington, D.C., where his painting will be on display.
Award winners were Kate Steiheibel (2nd place), Charlatte Henry (3rd place), and Jennifer Edwards and Yvonne Salinas (honorable mention).
