ITC to host Memorial Day weekend event

(May 26, 2004)--UTSA's Institute of Texan Cultures (ITC) is observing Memorial Day with "Memorial Memories" from 3 to 6 p.m., Sunday, May 30.

Co-sponsored by local nostalgic radio station KLUP, Krispy Kreme Doughnuts, United Service Organizations (USO), Air Force Village Foundation, Bruce Hoff, Susan L. Dick and Theme Travelers Inc., the event is free and open to the public.

Visitors can stop by a re-creation of a USO club and listen to the sounds of swing and big-band music by the Sentimental Journey Orchestra directed by Ted Conerly. Refreshments will also be available.

"The institute is proud to honor those who have died while serving our nation, as well as veterans and those currently in the armed forces," said John Adams, ITC associate executive director for planning.

For more information, call 210-458-2330 or visit the Institute of Texan Cultures Web site.
