Texas Folklife Festival tickets on sale at H-E-B stores

(June 7, 2004)--Advance tickets for the 33rd annual Texas Folklife Festival are on sale now at area H-E-B stores for $8 (age 13 and older) and $4 (ages 6-12).

The excitement begins Thursday, June 10, and continues through Sunday, June 13, at the Institute of Texan Cultures in downtown San Antonio. The festival will kick off with the San Antonio Spur's Malik Rose cutting the ribbon at the opening ceremony at 5 p.m. June 10.

Entertainment during the four-day run includes performances by Charlie Robison, 9:30-11 p.m., June 10; Los DesperadoZ, 9:30-11 p.m., June 10; Los Amables, 9:30-11 p.m., June 11; Axiom, 9:30-11 p.m., June 12; and 5 Stars, 6-7:30 p.m., June 13.

Advance tickets and food coupons are on sale through June 13 at H-E-B stores in San Antonio, Boerne, Bulverde, New Braunfels, Lytle, Fredericksburg, Leon Springs, Kerrville and Seguin.

Tickets also are available at the tickets and tours offices at Fort Sam Houston, Lackland and Randolph Air Force bases; UTSA fiscal services offices; the UT Health Science Center bookstore; and the ITC Store.

Tickets at the gate are $10 (age 13 and older), $6 (age 55 and older), $6 (active or retired military personnel with I.D.), $4 (ages 6-12) and free (under age 6).

Visitors can enjoy 150 authentic dishes prepared by 40 ethnic groups, 10 stages featuring music and dance from around the world, family entertainment and activities, carnival rides, artisan demonstrations, the Texas Crafts Market and more.
