UTSA closed Friday for day of mourning for President Reagan
(June 8, 2004)--The University of Texas at San Antonio will be closed Friday, June 11, 2004, along with other Texas state agencies, offices and departments.
In a memo to faculty and staff, UTSA President Ricardo Romo announced the university closing to observe an official day of mourning declared by Gov. Rick Perry to commemorate the passing of former President Ronald Reagan.

UTSA will operate a skeleton crew to maintain essential services, and the 33rd annual Texas Folklife Festival will continue as scheduled. Texas Folklife Festival hours on Friday are 5-11 p.m.
Perry today declared Friday, June 11 as an official day of mourning in remembrance of President Reagan, ordering flags on all state buildings be flown at half staff for 30 days.
Because Friday is an official closing, employees will not be required to take annual leave; however, those staff members who are required to work will be given compensatory time by their supervisors.
Perry also encouraged Texans to pay their respects to the memory of Reagan on Friday. The former president passed away June 5 after a long battle with Alzheimer's disease.
