UTSA hosts Web accessibility training
(Aug. 9, 2004)--UTSA will host a San Antonio training day for Knowbility's AIR-University aug. 23-24 at the 1604 Campus.
San Antonio Web developers at colleges and universities from throughout the area are invited to attend this free event.
Knowbility, an Austin based organization that promotes accessibility in technology, hosts the annual competition for universities from across the nation to make Web sites accessible. The competition includes free training for college and university Web developers.
A basic knowledge of HTML is recommended for participation.

Class Descriptions
Accessibility 101
This class provides you with the foundation needed to create accessible web sites. You will learn about Section 508 and WCAG guidelines. You will get the opportunity to browse the web with assistive technologies. And you will learn accessible design tools and techniques and how to use the AIR judging criteria as your cheat sheet for building a winning AIR site. These tools will support your efforts to design accessible web sites in your professional career.
Advanced Accessibility Training
After you understand the basics you are ready to explore advanced topics including complex forms and tables, cascading style sheets, Javascript, multimedia, and flash. This survey course provides you with the resources and understanding to enable you to become and accessibility expert.

Directions
The Business Building is located on the North East side of the campus. It is best accessed from Loop 1604, north of campus.
From Downtown take IH-10 west. Exit 1604 west. Within less than a mile, take the UTSA exit and turn left.
