Parents' Day brings families to UTSA Oct. 9

(Sept. 29, 2004)--UTSA will host its first Parents' Day Saturday, Oct. 9 with the theme "Get Rowdy with Your Student." The theme is a play on words referring to Rowdy Roadrunner, the UTSA mascot.

Parents' Day will center on the families of students who live on campus and who participated in the Rowdy Ties family orientation this summer. Family members are invited to return to campus, reconnect with their students and explore San Antonio.

The event includes a morning social gathering at the 1604 Campus student housing facilities and a tailgate party before the women's volleyball game. At the morning social, families will receive information packets with discounts to the volleyball game, Institute of Texan Cultures and area restaurants.

The popular Family Weekend will be hosted this academic year as part of Homecoming, Feb. 23-26, 2005. Parents' Day events are free and open to the UTSA community with no registration required.

Parents' Day is sponsored by the UTSA Alumni Association, Department of Intercolllegiate Athletics, Office of Orientation and Transition Services, Special Events Center, Office of Housing and Residence Life and Century Housing.

The UTSA Office of Orientation and Transition Services, University Center Room 1.00.40, will be open from 9 a.m. to 4 p.m. on Parents' Day. For more information, call 210-458-4724 or visit the Parents' Day Web site, which includes an event schedule and information on San Antonio activities and hotel accommodations.
