The new program, which began fall 2004, allows students to receive basic and advanced training in environmental science with concentrations in biology, geology or chemistry. As one of the newest scientific disciplines, environmental scientists deal with issues and questions affecting food production, soil, air, water and biological diversity.
The bachelor of science degree in environmental science will accompany the master's degree in environmental science and the doctoral degree in environmental science and engineering already in place at UTSA.
At least 25 to 35 students are expected to enter the program annually over the next five years.
