Deadline for faculty research award applications is Oct. 14

(Oct. 5, 2004)--The deadline to submit applications for the UTSA Faculty Research Awards program is 5 p.m., Thursday, Oct. 14.

The program is part of UTSA's coordinated efforts to promote research and scholarship of the highest quality. The competition is open to all full-time, tenure-track faculty, regardless of rank. Applications from assistant professors will be considered separately from those submitted by associate and full professors.

The Faculty Research Committee (FRC), composed of at least one representative from each college and school and chaired by Vice Provost for Research Joseph Stafford, will review, evaluate and fund research proposals based on quality and coherence; potential as a scholarly or artistic contribution; contribution to professional development of the investigator; suitability for publication, exhibition, performance or subsequent funding; and clarity for a non-specialist audience.

In order to fund as many proposals as possible, funding is limited to $5,000 per project. Proposals must include a budget justification.

For more information on submission requirements, go to the Office of Research Development Web site. Submit applications to the Office of Research Development, Multidisciplinary Sciences Building Room 4.02.14.

For more information, contact Mary Lou Spillers, Office of Research Development, at 210-458-5975.
