UTSA Spotlight: UTSA staff member participates in Leadership San Antonio

(Nov. 10, 2004)--Jennifer Storm, UTSA assistant director for external affairs in the Office of the President, was recently selected to participate in the prestigious Leadership San Antonio (LSA) Class 30, a joint program of the Greater San Antonio and San Antonio Hispanic chambers of commerce.

Storm serves at UTSA as liaison to local, state and federal government entities, as well as civic leaders and community organizations. Additionally, she works with community organizations regarding university partnerships.

Leadership San Antonio is a program sponsored by the Greater San Antonio Chamber of Commerce and the San Antonio Hispanic Chamber of Commerce that provides a dynamic learning experience for emerging leaders in the San Antonio area. Participants in the respected 30-year-old program have the opportunity to develop an understanding of community challenges. LSA seeks participants who demonstrate dedication to community service through key leadership positions.

A sixth generation Texan, Storm was born and raised in Premont, Texas, where her family operated a wholesale nursery and a working ranch. She graduated from Flour Bluff High School in Corpus Christi and earned a bachelor's degree in business administration and marketing at Texas A&M University - Corpus Christi (TAMUCC).

Prior to her work at UTSA, Storm was marketing and public relations director at the Coastal Bend Blood Center in Corpus Christi. She began her career as marketing director in the TAMUCC athletics department, overseeing marketing and promotion of 12 NCAA Division I sports.

Actively involved in community service, Storm volunteers as a mentor with Big Brothers/Big Sisters, an outreach program focusing on at-risk youth. Representing UTSA, she serves on the education on governmental affairs committees of three San Antonio chambers of commerce.
