Christine Sleeter
Expert on multicultural education to speak Jan. 21
(Jan. 19, 2005)--Multicultural education expert Christine Sleeter is keynote speaker for the symposium, "Preparing Teachers to Teach for Achievement by Identifying and Building on Students' Assets." Sleeter is professor emeritus of California State University, Monterey Bay.
Sponsored by the UTSA College of Education and Human Development Academy for Teacher Excellence (ATE), the event is 2-5 p.m. Friday, Jan. 21 in the Frio Street Building Riklin Auditorium (1.406) at the Downtown Campus.

RSS FeedsThe symposium, free and open to the public, continues a series of activities planned to strengthen UTSA's partnerships with community colleges and school districts, while enhancing opportunities for interaction between UTSA faculty members and K-12 educators. ATE is a hub for school districts, collges and UTSA to collaboratively research, design, implement and evaluate educational programs that address emerging, statewide and local educational issues associated with a growing, diverse student population.
Additionally, the UTSA community is invited to a reception from 6:30 to 8:30 p.m., Thursday, Jan. 20 at the Henry B. Gonzalez Convention Center. The reception will celebrate 30 years of partnership between UTSA and the National Association for Bilingual Education.
