UTSA hosts branch administrators conference

(April 15, 2005)--University faculty and administrators from across the nation are in San Antonio April 14-16 to attend the eighth annual National Association of Branch Campus Administrators (NABCA) conference, "A River Runs Through It: San Antonio and the Multi-Campus University." The conference is hosted by UTSA with sessions at the Downtown Campus and La Mansion del Rio Hotel.

NABCA is a professional organization of branch, regional, urban and multi-campus administrators that promotes the interests of branch campuses and takes advantage of available opportunities.

Jesse Zapata, UTSA vice provost and NABCA conference chair, looks forward to offering attendees workshops and dialogue with peers that create a forum for professional development and share information for the continuous improvement of the management, instruction and learning atmosphere on all higher educations branch campuses.

"UTSA is an active member of this professional organization and is pleased to host the conference this year," said Zapata. "We welcome the opportunity to showcase our beautiful city and the multi-campus university model we have created here in San Antonio. UTSA is increasingly becoming known among educators as a prototype of multi-campus success."

In addition to workshops on a variety of topics, registrants can hear addresses by Steve Murdock, Texas State Demographer and UTSA Lutcher Brown Distinguished Chair in Management Science and Statistics in the College of Business, and by Raymund A. Paredes, Commissioner of Higher Education, Texas Higher Education Coordinating Board.
