CAR Legacy program offers popular summer camps

(April 29, 2005)--The UTSA Center for Archaeological Research will offer the popular Legacy outreach program summer camps for children between the ages of six and 11.

With this year's theme, "Unraveling Ancient Egypt," campers will participate in a mock dig, make Egyptian arts and crafts, learn about mummies and take a trip to a local museum.

To accommodate busy family schedules, the camps will be in two sessions at the center on the UTSA 1604 Campus. Camps for ages 6-8 are June 6-10 and July 11-15.

Camps for ages 9-11 are June 20-24 and July 25-29. Camp hours for all dates are 8:30 a.m.-4 p.m. The cost of $190 includes supplies, snacks and the 2005 camp T-shirt.

The Legacy outreach program is entering its 10th year of serving the community in educational support. Legacy offers school presentations, laboratory tours, career day speakers and other services highlighting CAR's commitment to archaeological preservation and research.
