College of Engineering alumni give back to UTSA with scholarship donation
(April 1, 2005)--Four UTSA College of Engineering alumni recently returned to the 1604 Campus to give back to the university that provided the foundation for their successful careers.

Juan Carlos Sanchez, Miguel Sanchez, Luis Matos and Juan Contreras are officers in the area chapter of the Society of Hispanic Professional Engineers (SHPE), a national organization that promotes the development of Hispanics in engineering, science and other technical professions to achieve educational excellence, economic opportunity and social equity.
The group donated $4,500 for student scholarships and to support the Prefreshman Engineering Program. A portion of the donation will help establish a UTSA student chapter of SHPE.
