UTSA Spotlight: Rick Nixon serves as press officer at World University Games
(Aug. 4, 2005)--Rick Nixon, UTSA assistant athletic director for media relations, has been named by the United States Olympic Committee (USOC) to serve as a press officer at the 2005 Summer World University Games in Izmir, Turkey, Aug. 11-21.

As a press officer at the Games, Nixon will serve the USOC as media contact for the basketball and tennis venues. This will be the second USOC tour for Nixon, who also served as a press officer at the 2003 Games held in Daegu, South Korea.
Entering his 19th year in charge of athletic media relations at UTSA, Nixon directs publicity efforts for all 16 sports at the University, while also serving as play-by-play announcer for UTSA men's basketball and the lead announcer during UTSA television games. He has been the radio play-by-play broadcaster for the past 16 seasons.
Nixon also has served as the media coordinator for numerous UTSA-hosted NCAA Championship events in San Antonio. He was the local media coordinator for the 1998 Men's Final Four, 2002 Women's Final Four and 2004 Men's Final Four, as well as Men's Basketball Regionals in 1997, 2001 and 2003.
