Hurricane relief for new Roadrunners due Sept. 28

By Tim Brownlee
Assistant Director of Public Affairs

(Sept. 20, 2005)--As a result of the devastation of Hurricane Katrina, 54 students have transferred to UTSA from schools in Louisiana. The hurricane that hit Louisiana left many of these students with few items of clothing and personal possessions.

To help these new Roadrunners and in cooperation with the State Employee Charitable Campaign (SECC), UTSA employees are encouraged to make a monetary donation in their departmental offices. The collected funds will be used to purchase gift cards for the students who transferred to UTSA because of the hurricane.

In order to coordinate the gifts to the students, monetary donations should be turned in to Shirley Pipes, Office of Student Services, University Center Room 2.02.18, 1604 Campus, by 5 p.m., Wednesday, Sept. 28.

For more information, contact Shirley Pipes or Sam Gonzales at (210) 458-6220.
