UTSA alumnus Jerry Cabrera exhibits paintings in Laredo

(Nov. 21, 2005)--The Sound Alternative Space for Contemporary Art presents new paintings by San Antonio artist and UTSA alumnus Jerry Cabrera through Dec. 5. The exhibit, "Verbum," is on display at 206 W. Ryan St., Suite B, in Laredo, Texas.
The pieces in the exhibit are based on abstractions of Cabrera's cape paintings, his signature work in recent exhibitions.

Originally from Laredo, Cabrera earned an M.F.A. degree in painting from UTSA and a B.F.A. from Texas State University - San Marcos. A San Antonio-based artist, he has exhibited in San Antonio, Austin and San Marcos, including Blue Star Contemporary Art Center, MEXIC-Arte Museum and the UTSA Satellite Space.
Cabrera's work is included in the Neiman-Marcus Collection, and he is presently commissioned by the SBC Center in San Antonio to create a series of paintings.
