Celebrate UTSA diversity Nov. 17 at Convocation Center east lawn

By Tim Brownlee
Assistant Director of Public Affairs

(Nov. 16, 2005)--The UTSA community is invited to celebrate diversity at "Celebrate UTSA! All Different, All Roadrunners" Thursday, Nov. 17 at the Convocation Center east lawn, 1604 Campus.

There will be information tables sponsored by UTSA and other organizations from 4 to 6 p.m. with free food and other give-aways. UTSA President Ricardo Romo will open the festivities at 4 p.m. with the UTSA Mariachi Ensemble. Come as you are or dressed in cultural attire!

From 6 to 8 p.m., a showcase event will highlight many different cultures and groups. "Last Comic Standing" comedian Dat Phan will emcee and perform.

Phan was born in Saigon, Vietnam, in 1975. He and his mother came to the United States and suffered through financial hardships for most of his childhood in southern California. He became NBC's "Last Comic Standing" in August 2003, beating out great comedians such as Ralphie May, Rich Vos, Cory Kahaney and Tess Drake.
