UTSA hosts blood drive for former student

(Feb. 23, 2006)--UTSA Student Health Services and the student organization VOICES request the assistance of the UTSA community by donating blood for former student Taindee Swords. Swords was diagnosed with lung cancer and is in need of blood.

The blood drive is 9 a.m.-4 p.m., Wednesday, March 1 and Thursday, March 2 at the west end of the University Center, 1604 Campus.

Buses from the South Texas Blood and Tissue Center will be parked in front of the University Center. All donors will receive a free t-shirt. Raffles, refreshments and prizes will be available for donors.

To donate blood, you must be at least 17 years of age, weigh at least 110 pounds and be in good general health. It is recommended to drink plenty of fluid before the donation. A photo ID is required before the donation process.

VOICES (Volunteer Organization Involving Community Education and Service) is an organization for students interested in volunteer programs at UTSA.
