Volunteers needed for Texas Folklife Festival

(April 21, 2006)--Celebrating its 35th anniversary, the Texas Folklife Festival needs you to volunteer!

Hosted by UTSA's Institute of Texan Cultures in downtown San Antonio's HemisFair Park, the four-day cultural extravaganza runs Thursday, June 8 through Sunday, June 11.

Each year, the festival depends on approximately 1,300 volunteers to help in a variety of areas. In addition to individuals, corporate volunteers are needed.

Each volunteer will attend a one-hour orientation sessions and receive a wristband good for admission all four days of the event.

For 35 years, the Texas Folklife Festival has brought people together to share the authentic food, music, dance and crafts of more than 40 cultures in a spirited and unified atmosphere. The 35th anniversary celebration is 5-11 p.m., Thursday, June 8, and Friday, June 9; noon to 11 p.m., Saturday, June 10 and noon to 9 p.m., Sunday, June 11.
