Red Cross disaster services always need help

(April 20, 2006)--Twenty four hours a day, 365 days a year the Red Cross disaster services volunteers and staff respond to disasters of all kinds from daily house fires to the extreme weather events for which South Texas is widely known.

Disaster services teams respond with shelter, hot meals, warm hearts and helping hands. Disaster clients receive vouchers for new clothing, groceries, medications, eyeglasses and other disaster-caused needs.

Remember the hurricanes last year? Have you heard the prediction of another bad year? Throughout the city and surrounding counties are more than 130 emergency shelters for hurricane evacuees, but only 15 shelter managers. The Red Cross needs you.
