(April 25, 2006)--UTSA announced yesterday the appointment of Ysabel Trinidad as interim vice president for student affairs effective immediately.

Trinidad replaces Rosalie Ambrosino, who recently was named UTSA provost and vice president for academic affairs. Trinidad has served as associate vice president for student affairs since spring 2005. She served as UTSA's associate vice president for business affairs from 1997 to 2005.

"Trinidad's experience and record as an administrator have contributed greatly to UTSA's infrastructure expansion," said UTSA President Ricardo Romo. "Her work in fiscal services and student affairs also has prepared her to assume this role while we conduct a national search."

Trinidad is a graduate of California State University - Fresno where she received a bachelor of science degree, magna cum laude. She earned an M.B.A. degree at St. Mary's University in San Antonio.

As associate vice president for student affairs, Trinidad was in charge of administration and college planning and developed financial planning documents for student capital facilities projects. She was responsible for oversight and coordination of student affairs planning efforts to develop the two-year tuition and mandatory fees proposal to the UT System Board of Regents. Additionally, she helped develop a university-wide space management policy plan.

Before coming to UTSA, Trinidad served as budget director for the San Juan Unified School District Office in Carmichael, Calif.

Trinidad is a member of the National and Texas Association of College and University Business Officers, the Society of College and University Planners and the Texas Association of College and University Student Personnel Administrators.
