(June 27, 2006)--UTSA Student Health Services hosts a blood drive at the 1604 Campus from 9 a.m. to 3:30 p.m., Tuesday, June 27 at the south side of the University Center in the blood drive buses.

According to blood drive representatives, one pint of blood can save up to three lives. One of every 20 Texans will need blood at some time, but less than five percent of the eligible donor population gives blood.

Donors must be 17 years of age or older, weigh at least 110 pounds and be in good general health. A photo ID is required to donate.

For more information about the blood drive, contact the health education office at Student Health Services, (210) 458-4142.

For more information about blood donation in general, call Melissa Escobedo, South Texas Blood and Tissue Center, at (210) 731-5555, ext. 1309.
