New bookstore vendor quickly restocks textbooks

By Tim Brownlee
Assistant Director of Public Affairs

(July 10, 2006)--Because of the transition in contracts from Barnes and Noble to Follett, some textbook orders at the UTSA bookstores were not processed.

But, the good news is that the new Follett team is working quickly to completely re-stock new and used books for the second summer session and fall semester with overnight and second-day deliveries. Book shipments are arriving twice each day at the 1604 and Downtown campus bookstores and are put on the shelves immediately.

During the transition in bookstore management, UTSA faculty members are asked to contact the bookstore to verify textbook selections (or adoptions) and the receipt of book orders for the Summer II and fall semesters. Students can check daily with the bookstore on textbook shipments.

"We appreciate your patience as we work to meet the needs of faculty, students and staff during this transition period," said Corinne Vela-Zapata, UTSA director of auxiliary services. "Because classes are offered year-round, there was no down-time for a proper transition from one bookstore vendor to the other. We apologize for any inconvenience this may have posed to faculty and staff, and especially the students. The Follett team is working expeditiously to obtain all adoptions and orders for Summer II and fall. We look forward to the improved services that our new management team will provide."
