(Oct. 5, 2006)--The UTSA Lyric Theatre presents "The Taffetas," a musical revue celebrating the doo-wop era of the Fabulous 50s at 7:30 p.m., Friday-Saturday, Oct. 6-7 and 3 p.m. Sunday, Oct. 8 in the Buena Vista Theatre on the UTSA Downtown Campus.

Taking the audience back to the golden age of music, hula hoops, 3-D movies and home perms, the toe-tapping performance follows the lives of four singing sisters and their drive to appear on "The Ed Sullivan Show."

The fictitious girl group honors the contributions to music by female pioneers such as The Chiffons, The Fontaine Sisters and The Chordettes. Musical selections include "Tennessee Waltz," "Ricochet Romance," "Sh-boom," "Sincerely" and "Volare," featuring the talents of UTSA singers Jillian Cox, Shannon Courtaway, Liza Zuniga and Brooke Holyoak.

Tickets are $15 and $10 for students with UTSACard, seniors and military. Tickets are available at the door or by calling (210) 458-5685.
