
UTSA hosts Dec. 18-19 grant training seminar

(Dec. 1, 2006)--Robert Gracy, UTSA vice president for research, will host a two-day grant training seminar, "Office of Sponsored Programs Administration: From Proposals to Closeout and Everything in Between," from 9 a.m. to 5 p.m., Monday, Dec. 18 and 9 a.m. to 3 p.m., Tuesday, Dec. 19 in Main Building Room 0.212 at the 1604 Campus
For added convenience, the seminar includes a video simulcast to Frio Street Building Room 2.532 at the UTSA Downtown Campus. At both locations, the seminar is free and open to the UTSA community.

The seminar will be presented by Julie T. Norris, director emeritus of sponsored programs at MIT, and Jane A. Youngers, assistant vice president for research at the University of Texas Health Science Center at San Antonio.
Topics for the two-day training session include a grant compliance overview, roles and responsibilities, regulatory requirements and overviews of current topics. Additionally, there will be discussion of the life cycle of a sponsored program covering grant proposal preparation (including fundamentals of budgeting), negotiation and grant award administration. The presentations will emphasize cost-related requirements.
